Jake was attracted to Quest because of the integrative approach. He believes the health of the mind is directly related to the health of the body and that the two function interdependently. The nursing philosophies of holistic, patient- and family-centered care resonate deeply with Jake. His background in critical and primary care augment his mental health practice. He earned his Master of Nursing and a Doctor of Nursing Practice from Oregon Health & Science University as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP).
Jake treats a multitude of mental health concerns such as, depression, anxiety, trauma, psychosis, bipolar, sleep, and plain old everyday life stressors (we all have them and sometimes we need a little help). Though classically trained in psychopharmacology, he does not take prescribing or managing medications lightly. He believes medications can be very useful, but carry risks and there are often safer ways to manage symptoms. Medication decisions will be guided by informed discussions of risk versus benefit with you, Jake and other providers. He supports a collaborative care approach with the patient in the driver’s seat. Lastly, he believes listening is one of the most important therapeutic tools.
